A2. Comparatives vs Superlatives

This exercise helps students practice the often difficult concept of comparatives and superlatives. It can be used to introduce the concept or to review existing knowledge. It is a very simple exercise that elicits students general knowledge and personal opinions on a range of things. It's also a great exercise to introduce new vocabulary. The questions are varied and random, with some eliciting comparative forms, for example: Is Tokyo bigger than Madrid or is Madrid bigger than Tokyo? – Tokyo is bigger than Madrid. And which city is the most modern? When the questions become more subjective, this exercise is a great way to elicit brief discussions with your elementary students, introducing them to language for discussion.
