A2. Interrogative practice
Mastering interrogatives is a favourite exercise amongst ESL students, who often struggle with question forms in English. The prompts in these exercises cover questions in the following verb tenses: present simple, simple past, past and present continuous and the future with going to. They also elicit the full range of interrogative wh- questions. By providing the students with the answer to a question you elicit the correct question form, giving your students valuable practice in fluency, accuracy and linguistic agility. This is a great exercise to use as a warm up before lessons as it helps to consolidate learnt grammar. I recommend using it as an ongoing exercise across all levels to help your students develop their ability to change between interrogative and affirmative structures with ease.
