This fun and informative lesson is for all ages. It’s based on the historical figure of Musa I who was the ruler of the African Kingdom of Mali in the 18th century. He is famed for being the richest man in the world, if not ever! The lesson plan is based around an animated narrative presentation that gives a brief history of the fascinating life of King Mansa Musa. The main lesson focus is new vocabulary, particularly words that express excess. Before doing the main listening practice exercise, your students will do a variety of exercises that will introduce them to the vocabulary featured in the video. They will then do a speaking exercise where they have the opportunity to discuss great rulers and answer the question: What would you do if your were the most powerful person in the world?
